DAVAO CITY, August 8, 2025 – As part of its dedication for continued support for project implementation, the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP) Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO) XI, through the Office of the Deputy Project Director (ODPD), conducted a hands-on training for Drone Mapping and Photogrammetry for the Local Project Management Implementation Unit (LPMIU) of Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, and Davao Occidental.

Drone mapping and photogrammetry combine the technological power of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with specialized software to create highly accurate and detailed 2D maps and 3D maps of real-world environments, which is especially beneficial for project documentation compliances under the MIADP lens.

“This is part of our MIADP journey to make our talents work hard. We need to harness our skills for this project,” Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations and Deputy Project Director Zabdiel Zacarias said.
The training covered the introduction of basic drone mapping, photogrammetry compilation, and the packaging of topographic maps to equip the LPMIU in creating commodity maps needed for feasibility studies and business plan proposals.
RPCO XI’s Geographical Information Systems Officer (GISO) Engr. Meljun Gementiza spearheaded the event and lent his expertise throughout the training.
Drone mapping and photogrammetry is a powerful tool in creating commodity maps, which strengthens transparency and accountability mechanisms in project implementation of MIADP. Through accurate representation of existing commodities, terrain, and other relevant factors in a subproject proposal, it fortifies the efficient financing of investments by the project.
Historically, drone mapping and photogrammetry have been used by World Bank-funded projects to effectively weed out lapses in potential financial funding effectively.

“Timely kaayo ni nga training kay karon daghan na kaayo ta ug mga dokumento nga ginapangayo para sa atoang mga papeles. Importante ni para mahatag sa atoa ang mga proyekto nga atong ginahandum”, Component 1 Social Preparation Specialist McKevin Mosquesa said.
(This is a very timely training for us because of the bulk of documents needed from us for the subproject proposals. It’s importance can not be understated because this is the way we can comply with requirements asked from us.)
Previously, other LPMIUs underwent the same training as for their subproject proposal preparation.
