The Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP) is an initiative of the Department of Agriculture (DA) aimed at sustainably increasing agricultural productivity, resilience, and access to markets and services for organized farmer and fisherfolk groups in selected ancestral domains and value chains across Mindanao. MIADP seeks to enhance the economic situation of specific indigenous communities and to strengthen the approach and capacity of local government units (LGUs) in providing ongoing support to address low incomes resulting from weak marketing linkages and inadequate infrastructure in geographically isolated ancestral domains (ADs).
The project has engaged with the 26 ancestral domains in six (6) regions, 18 provinces, and 62 City/Municipal LGUs in Mindanao. Initially, 6 ancestral domains have identified the Potable Water System as their priority subproject under MIADP. The MIADP PWS (Potable Water Supply) subproject is aimed at providing accessible potable water to 3,683 households. By constructing this water supply system, the project is expected to generate several key benefits for the beneficiaries, including: (1) Time Savings for Water Fetching; (2) Reduced Morbidity and Premature Death; and (3) Savings in Medical Expenses.
To effectively achieve the objectives of the PWS (Potable Water Supply) subproject, ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of the system, each RPCO (Regional Project Coordination Office) E&S officer; Comp. – 1 Social Preparation Specialist must be trained in comprehensive water quality monitoring and surveillance.
