More than 200 stakeholders converged on November 20, 2023 in Pagadian City, for the monumental launch of the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP) and the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) SCALE-UP in Region IX, involving the Department of Agriculture, local government units (LGUs), and beneficiaries such as farmers, fisherfolks, and indigenous peoples.
The event coincided with the 5th Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO)- Provincial Project Monitoring Implementation Units (PPMIUs) Coordination Meeting, fostering a platform for collective endeavors and regional advancement.
The Project Director of the Philippine Rural Development Project in Region IX, Mr. Reynaldo M. Campomanes, took center stage during the launch, seeking the collaboration and support of local government units (LGUs) in the development of Certificate of Ancestral Domain Titles (CADTs) within their respective areas.
“To the LGUs, please help us in developing our CADTS in your respective areas aron matunol sa inyong lugar ang proyektong maikahatag sa MIADP,” Mr. Campomanes said.
Meanwhile, the MIADP PSO Project Director Abel James I. Monteagudo, echoed Campomanes’ sentiments, stressing the need for harmonious relationships between LGUs and indigenous peoples (IPs) to ensure the success and sustainability of MIADP initiatives.
Lastly, Marita Miñao, the Regional Director of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples
(NCIP) in Region IX, expressed her commitment to supporting MIADP by expediting the necessary documentation for the approval of Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) in project implementation.
“We will be working hand in hand with MIADP for the sake of our indigenous cultural communities (ICCs) and indigenous peoples (IPs) in Region 9,” she said.
As Day 1 concluded, the stage was set for Day 2, where detailed discussions, collaboration, and planning for the future development of the region were expected to take center stage.
