DAVAO REGION, May 23, 2025 – A substantial part of project implementation for the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP), the Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO) XI trained its Local Project Management and Implementation Unit (LPMIU) counterparts in Applied Geotagging Tool (AGT) and Basic Mapping.
The 3-day training revisited the fundamentals of AGT, discussed GPS tracks and GeoSetters, and reviewed the packaging of enterprise and infrastructure subprojects. It also delved into the computation of road influence areas and broached the project’s existing economic and financial analysis.

“Importante nga mahibaw-an sa atong LPMIU ang ilahang bahin sa atoang project implementation, ilabi na sa paggamit sa AGT. Magamit ni nila para mapakusgan ug mapadali ang pagproseso sa ilahang mga proposal,” MIADP RPCO XI Geographical Information Systems Officer (GISO) Meljun Gementiza emphasized.
(It is of importance that our LPMIU knows their part in our project implementation, especially with the use of AGT. They can use AGT to strengthen and hasten the processing of their proposal.)
Gementiza and MIADP’s Project Support Office (PSO) GISO Carlo Willisfer Jontilla lent their expertise throughout the training, providing in-depth knowledge in AGT and Basic Mapping. RPCO XI’s Economist Jocelyn Balmira also graced the event to lead the economic and financial analysis guidelines.

Historically, the use of AGT has strengthened the transparency and accountability mechanisms in project implementation through efficient financing of investments. By identifying overlaps in proposed subprojects, overestimation of road influence areas, and the overall improvement of project documentation compliance, AGT has been used by World Bank-funded projects to effectively weed out lapses in potential financial funding.
“Salamat sa tanan kay nahimong malamposon atoang training, ug manghinaot mi nga ang inyong nakuha diri, ma-apply ninyo sa inyong mga proposal. Suportahan nato atoang GISO kay kamo ang counterpart pagabot sa LPMIU,” RPCO XI PMEU Head Jovelle Fuertes said.
(We are thankful for the success of this training, and we hope that what you’ve gained here will be applied in your proposals. Let’s support our GISO because you are the counterparts at the LPMIU level.)
RPCO XI’s Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Unit (PMEU) Monitoring and Evaluation Officers Bernalyn Briones and Jake Darren Colina facilitated the event.
